Why University Turned Out to Be the Best Thing Ever for Me 🎓✨
Hey friends! I'm going to be 100% honest—university has been the best thing that’s ever happened to me. And that’s coming from someone who used to absolutely HATE school in high school. Like seriously, I counted down the days until graduation back then.
But uni? Whole different vibe. It's been fun, exciting, and filled with moments that have genuinely changed my life. So here’s a little glimpse into my university journey and why I love it so much.
Quick Life Overview 📚
- I’m in my final year (YAY) of university in georgia.
- I commute about an hour each way.
-This semester, I only have class once a week (blessing and a curse, honestly).
- I’m majoring in Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations. Fun fact: my university requires Journalism majors to have a minor (no idea why, lol).
- My minor? Applied Linguistics—and I LOVE it! I’m also getting a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate.
Since I grew up in Doha, Qatar, I have this dream of going back to teach there or somewhere in the Middle East.
Life on Campus 🌍
Right now, I’m interning with the Linguistics Department and working with the Intensive English Program (IEP) at my school. I hold weekly club meetings and organize activities for IEP students—and I absolutely love it.
Surprisingly, some of my closest friends are from my linguistics classes.
The PR Struggle
Since I’m in my last year, I’m taking tons of PR classes... but the downside? They’re all online. Sigh. I miss being on campus for those in-person vibes.
So... Why Was University the Best Thing Ever for Me? 🥳
Okay, I know some of you are probably still side-eyeing me for saying this, but here’s why:
1. SO Much Freedom
You get to build your own schedule and focus on things you actually care about. Game changer.
2. I Love (Almost) All My Classes
After the first year of boring math and science, I got to dive straight into major-related classes and electives I actually enjoy. It’s such a vibe.
3. Meeting Cool People
I’ve met friends from all over the world and connected with so many amazing people who share my interests. We can literally talk for hours.
4. Self-Confidence Glow-Up
In high school, I was *terrified* of public speaking. But when I got to university, I had to take a public speaking class—and it completely changed the game. Now I can actually talk to large groups without breaking a sweat.
5. Shared Passions
Meeting people who love the same nerdy stuff as me? Priceless. We’ve had conversations that went on for ages about the most random things, and it’s the best feeling.
There’s honestly so much more I could say about why I love university, but I’ll stop rambling for now, hehe.
If you're reading this and not sure about uni, just know it can be a place for growth, fun, and new experiences—even if you didn’t love school before. 🎉
